A mainstay of Saint Paul and the Lowertown neighborhood, the Black Dog is an unpretentious, all-day gathering spot. Since opening its doors in 1998 as a little coffee bar, the Black Dog has continued to stretch, push, and evolve to serve the growing needs of the ever changing Lowertown community.

The café serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, beer, wine, craft cocktails, as well as espresso, tea and non-alcoholic drinks.  Happy Hour is offered daily from 3-6pm.  Patio seating is available in season.

The Black Dog is known for live music (Jazz, World, Roots, Bluegrass) most every night and particularly for their Saturday nights.  “Saturday Night Jazz at the Black Dog,” features the best veteran Jazz musicians in the Twin Cities and special opening sets by up and coming jazz talent.

The Black Dog Café is located on the south east corner of the St. Paul Farmers Market Square, two blocks east of the Union Depot Green Line Station, and one block south of CHS Field home of the St Paul Saints Baseball.  The Black Dog is also a short walk from Mears Park, the Mississippi River, and the Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary. A perfect spot to spend any part of any day...

We hope you will make the Black Dog a part of your day in Saint Paul.

Roast Beef Hash "... a snapshot of what that dish ought to be, with hash browns lacy as a web and basted eggs that flow like lava. Full breakfast served daily.

Cuban "... well-suited for eggs in the morning and jazz in the evening."

Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner "... a new look, a full bar, and a new scratch kitchen"
