Despite his youth, Minneapolis-based guitarist and composer Will Schmid is a veteran of public gigging and has led groups across the Twin Cities for over five years. His duos, trios, and quartets have played such popular Minnesota venues the 318 Cafe, Black Dog, Reverie, Finnish Bistro, and Jazz Central. With fellow guitarist Adam Astrup, Schmid co-led ensembles at the 2016 Winter, Twin Cities, and Iowa City Jazz Festivals. Over two nights in March 2017, he debuted his original music in New York City. Now pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Physics at Case Western Reserve University, Schmid also studies guitar with Cleveland Institute of Music faculty Don Better and composition and arrangement with Cleveland Jazz Orchestra director Paul Ferguson.
Joining Schmid for August 22 are trumpeter Jake Baldwin (Har Mar Superstar, Cory Healey Beautiful Sunshine Band, Davu Seru No Territory Band), bassist Graydon Peterson (Graydon Peterson Quartet, Adam Meckler Quintet/ Orchestra, Firebell), and drummer and longtime band-mate Jesse Thorson.
