Saturday September 4th at the Black Dog Café, Brian Roessler and Pete Hennig from Fantastic Merlins will meet with Tony Hymas for a unique trio, a unique evening. Tony Hymas, keyboardist of Ursus Minor (who played at the Black Dog Block Party on July 25th), accompanist of Frank Sinatra, Cleo Laine or soprano singer Jane Manning, companion of Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce, Sam Rivers, Evan Parker, Tony Coe, Stanley Clarke, John McLaughlin, Roscoe Mitchell or Michel Legrand to name a few has also been the composer of the 80's mega hit "I won't let you down" with PHD as well as interpret of Debussy, Brahms, Ives or Prokoviev. Tony has been collaborating with native american writers, singers and musicians Barney Bush, John Trudell, Joanne Shenandoah, Floyd Westerman, Carlos Nakaï for three double CD's ("Oyaté", "Remake of the American Dream" and "Left for Dead"), has been involved in Michel Portal "Minneapolis" project with Michael Bland, Sonny Thompson and Vernon Reid and recorded two piano trio records with bassists Jean-François Jenny-Clarke and Billy Peterson and drummers Jacques Thollot and Eric Gravatt. Brian Roessler on bass (who is featured on Hymas' most recent film score) and Pete Hennig on drums are featured on the new Fantastic Merlins "How the light gets in" released in France this year where they will be touring next November.
